First hour: news review: Bristol’s Labour mayor Marvin Rees pulled out of this show at the last minute for the third time. He was meeting with Labour councillors Margaret Hickman (Lawrence Hill), Ruth Pickersgill (Easton), Mhairi Threllfall (Eastville) and Sultan Khan (Eastville) at 17:15 in Easton Community Centre right outside our studio, just before the Bristol and Lawrence Hill Labour party AGM which began at 7pm. Sadly Marvin still couldn’t ‘pop in’ although the opportunity was offered via the councillors. the US wars and proxy wars “for democracy” are Trojan Horses for the benefit of the wealthy in the US and the resource rich wealthy in the third world countries to keep wages down and profits high for the fat cats and killing and deaths has no limit for the corporate US and their cronies in a resource rich countyy . No one starts a war or backs fascist dictatorships to establish democracy and lift up the common people out of poverty .
I would be so grateful if Tony , Martin and anyone to reply : If the US and UK truly took over wall street and the city and the banks and made them truly public ; put financiers in the dock(on trial), who use legal, illegal but unjust financial “instruments”( like derivatives , off shoring, etc ) , cut backs on military spending(especially the obscenely large US military) , higher progressive income taxes, etc : could all of the above and more make at least somewhat of a cushion and a floor for the common person, for the upcoming financial crisis and/or the biggest market crash and depression of all time ?
The war and the crash (not the 2008 bailout) certainly appear to be being prepared. A criminal oligarchy hell-bent on retaining power and stopping their own criminality landing them in prison. Yes. All these things would help. Main industries the government needs to directly own and control are: cashpoints, electronic payment services, public property, water, electricity, gas, railways, telecommunications, airports, ports, buses, steel & housing. To name the most obvious. That would enable government to manage a real (as opposed to a media) war & crash.
First and foremost the government should regain control over it’s currency and issue it herself.
The currencies now control the governments. But. What about the monarchy? Where do they stand? They could be a decisive factor if not already conquered by the banksters oligarchy.

I think the public sector has a better chance at a comeback than here in the US ( i mean it probably goes without saying living in the base,usa, of an empire whose military budget is morally obscene . .
