First hour: News review: with LibDem group leader and councillor for Knowle Gary Hopkins. Dr Saffron Karlsen: Why the Prevent strategy is harming integration rather than helping it in Bristol’s communities. Interview with Dr. Saffron Karlsen, lecturer at Department of Ethnicity and Citizenship at Bristol University – she discusses the Prevent strategy against Muslim radicalisation and says it is harming integration not helping it – this is in the wake of the Casey Review that showed there wasn’t enough integration between different communities in Britain: MI6 being involved in Muslim radicalisation; Muslims seen as guilty until proven innocent; state can be a terrorist too;  terrible human rights records of countries Theresa May is having dinner with.  Bristol Council – Budget not in good shape and no clear way through.  Labour comes 4th place in Sleaford by-election – thought to be because of Labour’s mixed messages about immigration – Labour split, PR, does Corbyn have a cohesive vision?  Migration hits new highs – net migration from EU 189,000 in a year – immigration figures.  British workers living in poverty ‘at a record high’ – more social housing needed. 2000 disabled wrongly declared fit for work in 3 months.  Unknown rough sleeper, homeless man, found frozen in Birmingham. PMQs closure of a job centre and benefit sanctions – David Liddington taking Theresa May’s place – social housing within new housing developments. PMQs Emily Thornbury – what is the Brexit plan? – Labour rudderless. High Court injunction stops Mail on Sunday reporting police investigation into businessman.  PMQs strike of atomic workers over pensions at Aldermaston – why are nuclear weapons being privatised?

Second hour: Investigative reports: privatisation of Network Rail who own and maintain the British Railways’ track – Bruce Williamson from Rail Futures discusses the privatisation of the rail track: Banks owning stock;  fragmentation of railway; PMQs Peter Bottomley – RMT Union and strikes on rail over Christmas; First Group debt in US; last 20 years rail passengers have doubled;  electrification of Great Western Rail; HS2. Europol. the EU and MI6 this week announced a new wave of terror attacks are expected across Europe to be blamed on ‘returning jihadis’. OPERATION GLADIO C (NATO & MI6 plotting to kill UK/domestic civilians and political opposition in terrorist bombs and blame attacks on ‘returning jihadists’?) Europol and new head of MI6 says a new wave of terror attacks to be expected across Britain and Europe – NATO arming, training and directing Islamic terrorists. Sibel Edmonds, FBI whistleblower, discusses OPERATION GLADIO B (NATO controlling Islamist groups and planning terror attacks blamed on Islamists) – in process now – prepare for a new wave of false flag terror attacks in countries surrounding Russia to encourage them to enter NATO. Boris Johnson allies defend him over Saudi Arabia comments – slapping down from Malcolm Rifkind – clip of Boris and what he actually said.  Roland Dumas, former French Foreign Minister, on French TV saying Britain asked if he wanted to join them in starting an armed uprising in SyriaAlex Younger, new boss of MI6, discusses Syria:  war in Syria would end if MI6 backed Jihadis were gotten rid of; Russia and Assad creating more terrorists? Islamic terrorist attacks – such as Madrid, 9/11, 7/7, Paris, Brussels, Nice – evidence all these attacks have been part of ‘Operation Gladio C’ orchestrated by NATO Secret Services. Sibel Edmonds – mainstream media into less and less hands. Aldous Huxley discussing Brave New World, 1984, the state and the manipulation of opinion.

Beginning his working life in the aviation industry and trained by the BBC, Tony Gosling is a British land rights activist, historian & investigative radio journalist. Over the last 20 years he has been exposing the secret power of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and élite Bilderberg Conferences where the dark forces of corporations, media, banks and royalty conspire to accumulate wealth and power through extortion and war. Tony has spent much of his life too advocating solutions which heal the wealth divide, such as free housing for all and a press which reflects the concerns of ordinary people rather than attempting to lead opinion, sensationalise or dumb-down. Just brainstorming off of Martin’s comment on great 19th civil engineer, ship builder Brunel, on the wider gauge Brunel wanted. It seems on a small scale in a few places they are resurrecting Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s Atmospheric Railway great idea but failure at that epoch, into somewhat of a success with some modern tweaks, technology, materials and engineering.

The nineteenth century attempts to make a practical atmospheric system (described below) were defeated by technological shortcomings. In the present day, modern materials have enabled a practical system to be implemented.
Towards the end of the twentieth century the Aeromovel Corporation of Brazil developed an automated people mover that is atmospherically powered. Lightweight trains ride on rails mounted on an elevated hollow concrete box girder that forms the air duct. Each car is attached to a square plate—the piston—within the duct, connected by a mast running through a longitudinal slot that is sealed with rubber flaps. Stationary electric air pumps are located along the line to either blow air into the duct to create positive pressure or to exhaust air from the duct to create a partial vacuum. The pressure differential acting on the piston plate causes the vehicle to move.
Electric power for lighting and braking is supplied to the train by a low voltage (50v) current through the track the vehicles run on; this is used to charge onboard batteries. The trains have conventional brakes for accurate stopping at stations; these brakes are automatically applied if there is no pressure differential acting on the plate. Fully loaded vehicles have a ratio of payload to dead-weight of about 1:1, which is up to three times better than conventional alternatives.[29] The vehicles are driverless with motion determined by lineside controls.[30] Aeromovel was designed in the late 1970s by Brazilian Oskar H.W. Coester (pt).[31]

The Aeromovel system is in operation at Porto Alegre Airport, Brazil. A line connecting the Estação Aeroporto (Airport Station) on the Porto Alegre Metro) and Terminal 1 of Salgado Filho International Airport began operation on Saturday 10 August 2013.[32] The single line is 0.6-mile (1 km) long with a travel time of 90 seconds. The first 150-passenger vehicle was delivered in April 2013 with a 300-passenger second vehicle delivered later.
The system was first implemented in 1989 at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, Indonesia. It was constructed to serve a theme park; it is a 2-mile (3.22 km) loop with six stations and three trains.[33]

Flight Rail Corp has developed the concept of a high-speed atmospheric train that uses vacuum and air pressure to move passenger modules along an elevated guideway. Stationary power systems create vacuum (ahead of the piston) and pressure (behind the piston) inside a continuous pneumatic tube located centrally below rails within a truss assembly. The free piston is magnetically coupled to the passenger modules above; this arrangement allows the power tube to be closed, avoiding leakage. The transportation unit operates above the power tube on a pair of parallel steel rails.
The company currently has a 1/6 scale pilot model operating on an outdoor test guideway. The guideway is 2095 feet (639 m) long and incorporates 2%, 6% and 10% grades. The pilot model operates at speeds up to 25 mph (40 km/h). The Corporation claims that a full-scale implementation would be capable of speeds in excess of 200 mph (322 km/h).[34]….”

I don’t have any sources at this time but have heard anecdotes and read long ago. Isambard Kingdom Brunel building of the tunnel under the Thames had collapsed and flooded. He went down there to save some of the workers until he almost drowned. He went to an escape hatch but it was locked. A burly worker above heard some pounding on the hatch, broke the lock so Brunel could come out and hence saved Brunel’s life
