First hour: news review: with LibDem councillor for Knowle Gary Hopkins and Labour member and author Mal Sainsbury – Advertising; Bristol parks; Bristol Cabinet under Mayor Marvin Rees curtailing scrutiny of Future Business; Bristol Arena front man and Merchant Venturer Colin Skellett – The City was stunned when Filton Arena front man Colin Skellett was arrested. But the head of Wessex Water says the seven-figure sum which appeared in his Stoke-on-Trent bank account is not a bribe – YTL, with no experience of the European utility industries and with little understanding of how they were regulated, began to talk about incentives to keep the chief executive on board. Skellett was offered a five-year “lock-in” contract to carry out consultancy work on YTL’s business development, not least because the Malaysians wanted to buy more companies in Europe and elsewhere. The lock-in payment, which was around £1m, was – somewhat unusually – made up front. It was in Skellett’s bank account by mid to late July but, because there has not been a board meeting since, his fellow directors were unaware of the payment. It was the transfer of funds which apparently did for Skellett, because it was the bank, rather than a corporate whistle-blower, which seems to have tipped off the authorities. Skellett may therefore be a victim of the Government’s crackdown on money-laundering and terrorist financing, which forces banks to report any unusual movements of cash in or out of accounts.; homeless and hostels – Universal Credit; John McDonnell speech at Labour Conference – the economy; effects of austerity on society – nationalisation; Bristol Council targeting people in debt; Jeremy Corbyn and anti-Semitism slurs – Norman Finklestein, who wrote The Holocaust Industry, discusses what he thinks of Dame Hodges saying Labour and Corbyn are anti-Semitic; Jeremy Corbyn’s speech at Labour Conference – social justice – privatisation and outsourcing failures.

Massive viewer deceit and state propaganda from BBC News 1.15pm.
Reporting Russia’s denial that Chepiga is Boshirov, the BBC shows only the two undisputed photos of Boshirov, implying one to be Chepiga. Does not show the actual Chepiga photo at all. https://t.co/8HabqeF6NA pic.twitter.com/qBOecpRYBc

Second hour: Investigative reports: The problem is with Bellingcat’s methodology. They did not start with any prior intelligence that “Chepiga” is “Boshirov”. They rather allegedly searched databases of GRU operatives of about the right age, then trawled photos in yearbooks of them until they found one that looked a bit like “Boshirov”. And guess what? It looks a bit like “Boshirov”. If you ignore the substantially different skull shape and nose. Who is Bellingcat? 1 – Bellingcat is an amateur run, supposedly independent, source of image analyses on controversial images. Its operator, Eliot Higgins has been praised by The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Guardian. However, Robert Parry termed Bellingcat’s analysis of satellite photos related to the shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 an “amateurish [and] anti-Russian… fraud”. Another commentator claimed that Higgins has constantly been a source of dis/misinformation on Syria and Ukraine. Old Labour Oxford economist Martin Summers claimed Bellingcat was a conduit for propaganda from the Ukrainian intelligence services: “It’s not so much ‘Bellingcat’ as ‘smell a rat’.” – Who is Bellingcat? 2 Eliot Higgins of Bellingcat, Who is He? Everything You Need to Know… This is part of the series, Who’s Who in Ukraine Propaganda (#3) Graham Phillips – Who is Bellingcat? 3 – Bellingcat: the Dead Cat Factory by Bryan Hemming. There have been two new developments in the long-awaited criminal investigation report into MH17 over the last couple of weeks. Though you might’ve read about one, you’re far less likely to have heard about the other — more important — one. Skripal affair – Bellingcat saying he’s found who one of supposed Skripal poisoners is: who is Elliot Higgins of Bellingcat? Paid by Western Intelligence Services? Sky story presents Bellingcat speculation as fact: True identity revealed: Salisbury suspect is colonel in Russian military intelligence Anatoliy Vladimirovich Chepiga reportedly served in conflicts in Chechnya and Ukraine and was given a medal in 2014. Taxpayer funded fake news machine Psychological Warfare: British Army Brigade 77, Information Activity and Outreach (IA&O): Conducting timely and appropriate audience, actor and adversary analysis. Planning and integrating information activity and outreach (IA&O). Supporting and delivering IA&O within pre-designated boundaries. Supporting counter-adversarial information activity. Support to partners across Government upstream and post-conflict institutional development/reform. Collecting, creating and disseminating digital and wider media content in support of designated tasks. Monitoring and evaluating the information environment within boundaries or operational area. 77th Brigade is an agent of change; through targeted Information Activity and Outreach we contribute to the success of military objectives in support of Commanders, whilst reducing the cost in casualties and resources. Our outputs are a fundamental part of the Army’s Integrated Action model. Aside from the delivery and support of Information Activities and Outreach we have a role in planning and advising across the Army and wider Defence. – Information Warfare – war against Russia; Gordon Carrera talking about Bellingcat on 5 Live; Craig Murray – face recognition story; Craig Murray tweet. Interview with Issa Amro, from Hebron Freedom Fund, on how he was denied to get on his flight to England to speak at Labour Conference. I have no rights to general assembly, no rights to free speech, to due process or to freedom of movement. I get 10% of the water illegal settlers living next to me get. I am not allowed to walk down the streets of my own city. I can’t travel, work, or do business without being granted permission, which I must seek from the occupying forces themselves. Living under military law next to illegal Israeli settlers who live under civilian law, I know well the experience of terror and violence. I also know well what apartheid was, and what it looks like today in my city. Australian TV ABC – political interference – Head resigned 5 journalists hated by Australian Government.
